Deployment Models Overview

The Pliops Extreme Data Processor (XDP) is easy to deploy in your preferred system. With its low-profile PCIe card design, XDP fits in any standard server and works with direct-attached or disaggregated SSDs. For maximum flexibility, the processor does not connect directly to your SSDs, and requires no system backplane support, cabling, or other special hardware. Easy. And the performance is off the charts.

For block I/Os, Pliops XDP delivers massive performance and handles random writes with ease. With databases like MySQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra, XDP delivers major increases in instance density while reducing latency, so you can push the system to the max and still deliver a great user experience.

Pliops XDP is accessible via a standard block interface, meaning it will accelerate any application. To cut through decades of legacy software, XDP offers a direct key-value interface that uses the same APIs as your software. It’s an easy way to maximize application performance, and you don’t have to recreate the stack. Your existing SSDs, drivers, and security will still work seamlessly.

With XDP, you’ll have ultimate flexibility in how the card can be deployed, including direct-attached storage in standard servers, storage servers, and with single or multiple NVMe-oF Just a Bunch of Flash (JBOF) platforms for disaggregated scaleout storage.

High-performance applications benefit from DAS because it’s generally the fastest option, and DAS eliminates potential network bottlenecks. Modern applications and hyperscale environments need scalability and high availability without compromised performance to support large, data-intensive workloads that can be scaled out across distributed servers.

Pliops XDP simply plugs into any host server to manage direct-attached SSD storage. It complements the CPU by doing the heavy lifting of data processing and storage management, performing these intensive tasks faster than the host CPU can while freeing processing resources to further scale workloads.

By grouping NVMe SSDs together in a disaggregated storage system, you can consolidate a massive amount of storage and performance potential with the inherent flexibility of networked storage. But in this environment, the storage system CPU still sits in the critical path, bottlenecking data flow to expensive SSDs. Pliops XDP removes the CPU from the critical path, unleashing all of the performance potential in large-scale disaggregated infrastructures. XDP works with NVMe-oF, NVMe over TCP, iSCSI, and more.

Whether serving high-performance scaleout storage environments or flexible software-defined deployments, converged storage servers work to achieve the best balance between performance, storage capacity, bandwidth, and cost-effectiveness. When handling critical workloads that require high-performance NVMe SSDs to perform at the lowest latencies possible, converged infrastructure demands the highest performance with the lowest CPU overhead.

The Pliops XDP is ideal for converged infrastructure because its data services, such as inline compression and drive fail protection, not only enable the lowest cost QLC SSDs and free up precious CPU cores, but also boost performance compared to what software-only systems can achieve.
